DJ Koze Information
Kozalla, born in Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, made his name in the Hamburg music scene. He started in the Flensburg hip-hop scene in the early '90s as a DJ and MC. When the 1991 German DMC Championships were held, DJ Koze placed second. (an offshoot of the Disco Mix Club). Two years later, he relocated to Hamburg and co-founded the hip-hop formation Fischmob alongside Cosmic DJ, DJ Stachy, and the "Schreckliche Sven."
At the same time, he worked with electronic music, built his reputation as a DJ, and even released several remixes (sometimes as Adolf Noise). In 2000, a compilation titled Music Is Okay featured many similar remixes. In 2001, as Adolf Noise, he released the single "Deine Reime sind Schweinereime," a parody of German hip-hop battle rap records with Max Goldt as spokesman.
He co-founded International Pony with Cosmic DJ and Erobique in 2002, releasing the CD We Love Music in 2004 and the LP Mit Dir sind wir vier in 2006. Since 2003, Koze's Monaco Schranze alias has been used by the Cologne label Kompakt to release a string of Techno-Maxis. (a corruption of Monaco Franze and Schranz). His second mix CD, All People Is My Friends, was released in 2004.
