Disney's DCappella Information
DCappella's idea emerged in 2012, and tryouts began in November 2017. After a nationwide search for talent led by Deke Sharon, Disney Music Group said in December 2017 that it had created the group. A soprano, mezzo, alto, tenor, high baritone, low bass, and vocal percussionist were among the originally proposed seven members.
Newsies' Morgan Keene was announced as the soprano, Pitch Perfect's Shelley Regner as the mezzo, Sojourner Brown as the alto, Saturday Night Live's RJ Woessner as the tenor, The Voice finalist Orlando Dixon as the baritone, Hunkapella's Joe Santoni as the bass, and American Music Machine's Antonio Fernandez as the vocal percussionist. In January 2018, a roster of 14 singers was made public since Disney planned to split the DCappella touring group into two groups.
The debut single "Immortals" from Disney's "Big Hero 6" was released by Disney Music on April 27, 2018. DCappella debuted on American Idol's Disney Night, which took place on April 29, 2018. Opening for Disney's Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Memorial Day weekend 2018 was the quartet with Maddie Poppe, the inaugural winner of ABC's Idol. On November 16, 2018, the band released their debut self-titled album.
