DIIV Information
DIIV is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2011. Ben Newman plays drums, Andrew Bailey plays guitar, Colin Caulfield plays bass, keyboards, guitar, and vocals, and Zachary Cole Smith sings and plays guitar. Originally titled Dive, the band began as Smith's solo recording effort. Signed by Captured Tracks, the band produced two singles, "Sometimes" and "Human," which Smith recorded only for demos.
DIIV announced on July 24, 2019, their first song in more than three years, " Skin Game," and that their new album, Deceiver, will be out on October 4, 2019. DIIV debuted their second song off Deceiver on August 22, 2019, "Taker." DIIV made their third single from Deceiver available on September 18, 2019 "Blankenship."
The band announced on February 15, 2024, that their next LP, Frog in Boiling Water, was published on May 24, 2024, on the label Fantasy Records. The album's lead single, "Brown Paper Bag," was released on YouTube the same day. The album is named for Daniel Quinn's metaphor found in his book The Story of B. DIIV published their fourth album, Frog in Boiling Water, to great reviews on May 24, 2024.
