Dessa Information
Margaret Wander (May 23, 1981) is an American rapper, writer, former record executive, and singer. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, professionally known by her stage name, Dessa. Dessa attended Minneapolis, Minnesota's Southwest High School, earning her IB Diploma in 1999. Her proudest academic achievement is a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota. She used to serve tables and write technical documents for a medical equipment firm until she pursued art full-time.
Dessa's first solo effort was a short EP called "False Hopes," published in 2005. Even though it's barely fifteen minutes long, the Minneapolis Star Tribune considered it one of the year's best local albums. On January 19, 2010, Dessa released A Badly Broken Code, his debut solo album. Singles "Dixon's Girl" and "The Chaconne" were released from this album. Paper Tiger, MK Larada, Lazerbeak, Cecil Otter, and Big Jess contributed to the album's production.
Castor, the Twin, published in 2011, was a remix album by Dessa comprising fresh arrangements of tracks formerly released on earlier projects, most notably A Badly Broken Code. The remixes featured live instrumentation in place of the original production. Dessa's third studio album, Chime, was released on February 23, 2018, and debuted at number three on Billboard's Independent Albums chart.
