Dead Can Dance is a musical project formed by Brendan Perry and Linda Gerrard in Melbourne, Australia, in 1981. They are a British-Australian musical duo whose debut album was a self-titled album released in 1984. The genre of the pair is Neoclassical dark wave, art rock, Avante-Garde, gothic, and post-punk. The duo Dead Can Dance was active from 1981-1998, 2005, and 2011 till the present. The duo has been affiliated with several recording labels such as 4AD, Warner Bros, PIAS, Rykodisc, and Atlantic/Rhino.
The duo’s sixth studio album was released in September of 1993 called ‘Into the Labyrinth.’ They had sold over 500,000 copies of their album all around the world and also appeared in the Billboard 200 charts. The duo separated before they began their world tour, and the tour was canceled. However, the pair reunited in 2005 and released a recording, which was a limited edition. This edition consisted of thirteen shows from Dead Can Dance’s European tour and other records from their North American tour. It was a compilation known as Selections from Europe 2005.
