De La Soul is an American hip hop trio that came into its existence in the year 1987 in the Amityville area of Long Island, New York. De La Soul is best famous for its quirky lyrics, eclectic sampling, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres. The names of bands members of De La Soul are Posdnuos, Trugoy, and Maseo. These three friends started the band when they were in high school. They sent a demo tape of the song “Plug Tunin” to the Producer Prince Paul and caught his attention immediately.
The band De La Soul then came out with their debut album ‘3 Feet High and Rising’, due to its playful wordplay, innovative sampling, and witty skits, this album has been referred to as a “Hip Hop Masterpiece.” This album is the band’s most significant commercial success with subsequent ones selling progressively less, despite receiving high praise from critics.
