Damien Jurado Information
Damien Jurado is an American songwriter and singer based in Seattle, Washington. He began his musical career during the mid-1990s and released some lo-fi folk based recordings on his label called “Casa Recordings.” Sub Pop Records noticed him through Sunny Day Real Estate singer Jeremy Enigk. In 1997, Sub Pop issued Jurado’s first album entitled “Waters Ave S.” In 1999, he released his second album entitled, Rehearsals for Departure, which Ken Stringfellow produced.
Jurado has experimented with many different forms of tape recording. He has released numerous notable singles throughout his career including “Halo Friendly” (1997), “Chevrolet” (1998), “Letters & Drawings” (1998), “Big Let Down / Make Up Your Mind” (2002), and “Exit 353” (2015). Jurado has collaborated for several projects with his fellow artists and has appeared on some notable tracks such as “The Dogs” and “Almost Home” for the album “Innocents” by Moby. Jurado has even collaborated extensively with Richard Swift.
Jurado has worked with different record labels over the years, such as Loose, Mama Bird Recording Co, Secretly Canadian, and Sub Pop. His notable albums include Motorbike (1995), Trampoline (1996), Vary (1997), Gathered in Song (1998), Four Songs (2001), Holding His Breath (2003), Just in Time for Something (2004), Traded for Fire/Ghost of David Split with Dolorean (2006), LEM: Volume 1, January 2010 (2010), Out Turn To Shine EP (2010), Diamond Sea/Pentagrams (2012), Clouds Beyond/ Let As All In (2012), Wyoming Songbirds/Ghost of David (2012), and The Maraqopa Sessions EP (2012), and many more.
