Dallas Symphony Orchestra Information
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, or DSO, is a symphony orchestra based in Dallas, Texas. The principal performing venue for the orchestra is the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, situated in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. In 1945, Antal Doráti was appointed as music director for DSO. Under his direction, the symphony orchestra became professional in every aspect. Jaap Van Zweden was named the DSO’s 15th music director in 2007. He began his tenure in the 2008-2009 season.
DSO was guest-conducted for the first time in 2002 by Fabio Luisi. The next guest-conducting appearance took place in March 2018. Luisi was named as the next music director for the symphony orchestra. Kim Noltemy is the current president and chief executive officer of the DSO.
