In 1983, Michael Levine formed a brass quintet called The Dallas Brass. The classical, the romantic, and the patriotic are all represented in its catalog of songs. The comedy workshop provided by the band continues to energize the audience and encourage budding musicians.
Group members include director Michael A. Levine, trumpeter Buddy Deshler, trumpeter Garrett Klein, horn player Juan Berrios, trombonist Jim Lutz, tubist Paul Carlson, and bassist Craig Hill. (percussion).
The Dallas Brass has played for both Presidents Ford and Bush the Elder. They have performed at Carnegie Hall, with the Cincinnati Pops, the New York Pops, and in various European cities. The Dallas Brass performs frequent visits to public schools, where they do clinics and work with children on a variety of musical pieces.
Debut, Dallas Brass II, A Merry Christmas with Brass, Windborne, Nutcracker, and American Musical Journey are the six albums recorded by the Dallas Brass.
