He spent his formative years performing in various Carolina venues, including bars, college campuses, and Honky Tonks, although he was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Great music and an all-night throwdown by him and his band made them the "go-to" for many.
Cooper Alan had the remarkable good fortune to meet popular songwriter and producer Victoria Shaw in Nashville shortly after graduating, and she signed him to a publishing deal within weeks of meeting him.
