Colin Hay Information
Colin James Hay (June 29, 1953) is a Scottish-Australian actor, singer, musician, and songwriter. He was born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire. The breakup of Men at Work in 1986 was followed by the publication of Hay's breakthrough song "Hold Me" in January 1987. On the Kent Music Report, it peaked at number forty. When it was finally released in January 1987, his first studio album, Looking for Jack, reached the number 58 spot on the charts.
By 1989, Hay had moved to the Los Angeles area. He settled in the Topanga region of the city and has stayed in the United States since. He officially became a US citizen in January of 2016. The first single off his April 1990 album Wayfaring Sons, "Into My Life," was released by Hay in March 1990. No tracks from either album made it into the ARIA Top 100. Gerry Hale, Paul Gadsby, and Robert Dillon formed the Colin Hay Band, who were credited for the album.
Hay's Peaks & Valleys, an acoustic CD, first out in 1992. Hay's sister Carol contributed vocals to the record. Hay's fourteenth studio album, titled I Don't Know What to Do with Myself, was released in August 2021. Christian "Luude" Benson (of the Tasmanian electronic dance music group Choomba) was an Australian producer who, in the late year of 2021, reworked Men at Work's "Down Under" as a drum and bass track with a new vocal performance by Hay. This version was released on the Sweat It Out record label.
