Clem Snide Information
Clem Snide is an American alt-country band. The current lineup consists of Ben Martin (drums), Brendan Fitzpatrick (bass), and Eef Barzelay (guitar and vocals). The "Clem Snide" is originally a character that appears in multiple William S. Burroughs novels, including The Ticket That Exploded, Naked Lunch, and Exterminator! Clem Snide was formed in Boston in 1991 by Eef Barzelay, Jason Glasser, William J. Grabek Jr., and drummer Eric Paull.
Jeff "SweetBread" Marshall was an addition to the group a few years later; the band recorded its first album, You Were a Diamond, with producer Adam Lasus. After gaining a local following, they were noticed by Seymour Stein, who signed them to the Sire label in 1999, where they recorded Your Favorite Music.
Clem Snide's third album, The Ghost of Fashion, was released on indie label SpinArt Records a few years later. The song "Moment in the Sun" was utilized as the theme song for the second season of the NBC show Ed, bringing the album widespread notice.
The band reformed in 2009, releasing their sixth album, Hungry Bird, on 429 Records. Clem Snide's seventh long-player, The Meat of Life, was released on 429 Records on February 23, 2010.
When "Faithfully" was played before the end credits of "Waiting for a Miracle," the fourth episode of season 5, the band's music was featured in the sitcom Californication (originally broadcast January 2012).
