Clayton Anderson is an American songwriter and singer from Bedford, Indiana. He was born into a supportive family and found greats friends. Clayton learned to play guitar when he was in college because he thought the ladies would be impressed. When Clayton graduated, he won Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star Competition that boosted his confidence. So, he left his job at a mortgage company and moved to Nashville.
In 2011, Clayton released his first record entitled Torn Jeans & Tailgates. The record reached number 12 on the iTunes Country Chart, next to household names like Brad Paisley, Zac Brown, and Blake Shelton. Since then, Clayton has been traveling across the country playing stages, backrooms, and honky-tonks all over; every time he gains a few more fans than before. He has also opened for some of the country’s biggest stars such as Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, and even Mr. Party himself, Jimmy Buffett.
According to Clayton, he has pulled a lot of his musical inspiration from his home state’s legends that are Michael Jackson, John Hiatt, David Lee Roth, and a few more. Some of his other influences are KISS, Barenaked Ladies, Alabama, Johnny Cash, Toby Keith, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Conway Twitty.
