Christopher Joseph Isaak (June 26, 1956) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and occasional actor. His iconic song "Wicked Game" and other worldwide singles, including "Blue Hotel," "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing," and "Somebody's Crying," have made him an international sensation. He is noted for his reverb-laden rockabilly revivalist style and vast vocal range.
Isaak has been making music for the better part of four decades, during which time he has published 13 studio albums and been nominated for several awards. The likes of Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, and Duane Eddy have all been used to describe his music and style.
Tracks "Gone Ridin'" and "Livin' for Your Lover" from David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986) album were played in the film. The next album, Isaak, published in 1987, peaked at No. 200 on the Billboard album chart. Isaak refined his sound on this album to create smooth R&B. Bruce Weber, a noted fashion photographer, shot Chris Isaak's album cover.
Isaak and his longtime guitarist, James Calvin Wilsey, broke up in 1995. Isaak's fifth studio album, Forever Blue, was released that year. The album and the single "Somebody's Crying" were nominated for Grammys: Best Rock Album and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
Isaak appeared as one of three musical acts during the 2015 AFL Grand Final, along with Ellie Goulding and Bryan Adams from the United Kingdom and Canada, respectively. He performed on the "First Comes the Night Tour" in 2016.
