Chicken Wire Empire Information
Chicken Wire Empire is an American traditional bluegrass band based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The group received major attention after releasing its debut album entitled “Chicken Wire Empire” in 2014. Half of the group is rooted in jam band music while the other half is into bluegrass. The group’s music changed when Chicken Wire Empire performed a tribute show, Old & In the Way. The performance was completed with the addition of Jon Peik (banjo), Ernest Brusubardist IV (fiddle), and Greg Brundage (guitar).
Chicken Wire Empire’s music journey from traditional to progressive was documented by their director Ross Monagle in the film entitled “All It Takes,” which premiered at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee in 2016. The group returned to the studio and recorded their sophomore album entitled “What Moves Mountains.” The album featured a mixture of some covers and originals, recorded at Axis Recording by Vinny Millevolte and mastered by Justin Perkins. The album was officially released on January 1, 2019.
Chicken Wire Empire has also been honored with several opportunities to share their stage with renowned musicians, including Hand Grenades, Horseshoes, The Big Wu, The Travelin’ McCourys, 30db, and Yonder Mountain String Band. The band has performed in many mega music festivals, which has helped them build their dedicated fan base. The group looks to the future, and their ambition is to strengthen the bluegrass scene of Wisconsin and further the appreciation of acoustic music.
