Chatham Rabbits Information
Chatham Rabbits is an American husband-and-wife duo from North Carolina Triangle. Austin and Sarah McCombie met for the first time at a Mandolin Orange concert in 2013. Sarah was performing as a member of The South Carolina Broadcasters in the opening act. Their connection got personal, and now the couple is known for bringing traditional folk sound with a clawhammer banjo, renovated 1986 Winnebago, and sweet harmonies. They both have been playing music since their childhood. Sarah previously worked as a member of the South Carolina Broadcasters.
After founding Chatham Rabbits, the couple pursued a full-time career under this name. They decided to name the duo Chatham Rabbits, inspired by a century-old string band with the same name sponsored by the old mill in Bynum. The current residence of McCombie’s was the former home of a mill worker and guitar player for the original Chatham Rabbits. The duo is now best known for intimate close-harmony singing and how they chose to connect with the audience.
The couple loves to have a rustic and minimalist acoustic arrangement. The two of them have been touring rigorously all across the Southeast, supporting their debut album entitled debut album All I Want from You. This album was produced by Jerry Brown (Doc Watson), and an appearance by famous Mandolin Orange’s Andrew Marlin can also be seen. Their sophomore album The Yoke is Easy, The Burden is Full is a sophomore album by the duo heavily praised by Paste Magazine, PopSugar, American Songwriter, Garden and Gun, and No Depression.
