Bumpin’ The Mango is an American ensemble founded in 2012 in Atlanta. The group has now become Atlanta’s top funk and soul band. The group consists of 10 of the southeast’s finest musicians: Tom Gibson, Paul Garrett, Ian Michael Bruh, Kevin Lyons, Gary Paulo, Jason Chapman, Frank Lisco, Geof Gill Emmanuel “Chops” Smith, and Chris Otts. This musical brotherhood is accompanied by a rock solid rhythm section, a fiery five-piece horn section, and an incredible lead vocalist.
The music and presence of Bumpin’ The Mango are well-known for radiating unique energy from the stage. This energy lifts the audience out of their seats and immediately pulls them to the dance floor. The group members are heavily influenced by bands such as Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, Tower Of Power, and The Ohio Players. Bumpin’ The Mangos’ original music is a blended version of funk, soul, and R&B. The group has recently released its self-titled debut EP.
Bumpin’ The Mango currently performs in different live music venues and festivals happening across the southeast. Tom Gibson is one of the most active brass performers, whereas Garrett is one of the arrangers. Ian Michael Bruh is known as the funk ambassador, while Lyons brings his dual passion of jazz and classic to the band. Paulo takes care of the saxophone, and Chapman is set on bumping the group. All of them, along with the other band members, takes the audience on a journey.
