Brooks and Dunn Information
Brooks & Dunn is an American country music duo composed of vocalist and songwriter Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, respectively. Tim DuBois, a composer and record producer, proposed the pair formed a partnership in 1990. Both members had prior experience as solo performers, with two 1980s singles each, before coming together to form the group. In addition to penning popular songs for other singers, Brooks put out an album in 1989 via Capitol Records.
Following its formation, the pair signed with Arista Nashville. Their discography on the label includes eleven studio albums, one holiday album, and five compilations. On the Hot Country Songs charts, 20 of their 50 singles reached number one, while another 19 reached the top ten. While the pair has received praise for their unique sound and the difference between their onstage personas and singing voices, they have also taken heat for their formulaic approach to music. Their songs often incorporate elements of honky-tonk, mainstream country, and rock.
Their last performance was on September 2, 2010, at Nashville, Tennessee's Bridgestone Arena, after their August 2009 retirement announcement. Even after leaving Arista Nashville, Brooks & Dunn kept recording solo albums. "Bleed Red" was a top-ten country song from Dunn's 2011 self-titled album, while Brooks's 2012 September album, New to This Town, was his most recent.
