Brandy Clark Information
Brandy Lynn Clark (October 9, 1975) is an American country music singer and songwriter born in Morton, Washington. When Clark was nine, she started playing guitar and singing in school musicals. She also started writing songs. Before returning home to earn an associate degree from a community college, she earned a basketball scholarship at Central Washington University. After enrolling in Belmont University's music business department while still a teenager, she relocated to Nashville in 1998.
Released on October 22, 2013, 12 Stories was Clark's first album. It has background vocals by Vince Gill and was produced by Dave Brainard. According to Billboard's Top Country Albums list, it debuted at number twenty-eight. In her first appearance on CBS television, Clark sang the lead single "Stripes" on David Letterman's The Late Show with David Letterman on January 6, 2014. Big Day in a Small Town, Jay Joyce's second album for Clark, was released on June 10, 2016. The lead single, "Girl Next Door," peaked at No. 39 on Country Airplay and was her sole chart entry up to this point.
In 2020, Clark's album Your Life Is a Record was released. Joyce also served as producer for the record, which was considered for the Grammy Award for Best Country Record. The self-titled album Brandy Clark was released by Clark in 2023. Best Americana Album was one of five Grammy nominations it received. Best Americana Performance went to Clark and her collaboration with Brandi Carlile on "Dear Insecurity"; it was Clark's first Grammy.
