Bobby Ray Simmons Jr., known professionally as B.o.B, is an American rapper and record producer. Growing up in Decatur, Georgia, Simmons caught the attention of Jim Jonsin in 2006, who signed him to his Rebel Rock Entertainment label. A joint venture arrangement between Jonsin and Simmons' J Records and fellow rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records was signed two years later. After signing with a major label, "Nothin' on You" (with Bruno Mars), Simmons' first single topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 list in 2009 and was nominated for a Grammy for Record of the Year.
His follow-up singles "Airplanes" (which featured Hayley Williams of Paramore) and "Magic" both peaked inside the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100. Simmons released two E.P.s and several self-published mixtapes before releasing his first proper studio album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray. The album was certified two times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after debuting at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 list.
Simmons ranked #9 on MTV's 2010 "Hottest M.C.s in the Game." The following year, he appeared on the U.K. top-charting single "Price Tag" by English singer Jessie J. Strange Clouds, Simmons's second studio album, was released in 2012 and peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200. His fourth top 10 success on the Billboard Hot 100 was the album's title track, which featured Lil Wayne.
