Billy Ocean Information
Leslie Sebastian Charles (January 21, 1950) is a Trinidadian-born British singer and songwriter. He is professionally known by his stage name, Billy Ocean. After putting out music under several aliases, his 1976 single "Love Really Hurts Without You" was his big break. It reached number two in the UK and number three in Australia, marking the second single published under the stage name Billy Ocean. He went on to have two more UK top 20 singles later that year.
On July 29, 2011, at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Ocean was made a Companion. Paul McCartney conferred his title upon him. Ocean played Lemon's dad in the 2012 British comedy film Keith Lemon: The Film. As part of his new album's promotional tour, Ocean appeared on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show in January 2016 to play a few of his classics.
In March and April 2017, Ocean toured the United Kingdom. Midway through 2019, Ocean reunited with producer Barry Eastmond as a co-writer for a new studio album, which was recorded at Eve Studios in Stockport. The album One World was supposed to be published on April 17, 2020. Following some postponement, the official release date was September 4, 2020.
