Ballyhoo Information
Ballyhoo! is an American reggae-rock band that has been playing since 1995. The current lineup consists of Howi Spangler (lead vocals and guitar), Donald Spangler (drums), Scott Vandrey (keyboards, programming, and vocal harmonies), and Nick Lucera (bass). The band is originally from Aberdeen, Maryland, formed in July 1995 by brothers Donald Spangler and Howi Spangler. The group released its debut album entitled “365-Day Weekend.” The group also released a debut EP entitled “The Green” in 2004. Both of the records were released on Hooligan Records.
Ballyhoo self-released its second album named, Do It For The Money! in 2006. The album was produced by Jerome Maffeo, featuring the first hit single named “Cali Girl” and the second one, “Cerveza.” In 2009, the group came up with another album entitled Cheers!, released on Surfdog Records, produced by Scotch Ralston. In October 2010, Ballyhoo released a single entitled “Front Porch.”
Ballyhoo’s notable tour highlights included the California Roots Festival in 2013, the Vans Warped Tour in 2012, The Bamboozle Festival in 2012, the 311 Caribbean Cruise in 2012 and 2013, and 311 Pow Pow Festival in 2011. The band’s other notable studio albums include Daydreams (2011), Pineapple Grenade (2013), Girls (2017), Detonate (2018), and Message to the World (2020). Some notable singles by Ballyhoo include “One In A Million,” “Blaze This Weed,” “I Don’t Wanna Go,” “Maryland Summer,” “Message To The World,” and “Social Drinker.”
