Baek Ji Young Information
Baek Ji-Young (March 25, 1976) is a South Korean singer. She was born in Seoul, South Korea. Ji Young released her debut album, Sorrow, in 1999, introducing her to the South Korean dance scene. Among the first Korean pop songs to use Latin sounds, Choice was released as the debut single. The single did well on the charts, and in April of 2000, Ji Young released her second album, Rouge, which sold 360,000 copies.
Ji Young's fourth album, Smile, released in September 2003, ranked 46th for the year, two years after her last album, Tres. Ji Young's fifth album, Smile Again, was released in March of 2006. The album's lead hit, " " (I Won't Love), was a ballad rather than one of her typical Latin-styled tracks. Despite the radical revision, the song quickly rose to the top of the charts on several performance-based television programs.
Even though the album's hit single was titled "Ez Do Dance," most of the songs were in the Latin/dance genre, indicating that this shift was temporary. Until the end of the summer of 2006, she promoted the record using this single as her main live performance. Ji Young was nominated for the Overseas Viewer Award and won Best Female Solo Singer at the MKMF Awards in November 2006.
Ji Young's sixth studio album, The Sixth Miracle, premiered on the charts on September 7, 2007, with the lead track "I Only Need One Love." At the Seoul Music Awards in January 2008, she was recognized for her work on the album.
