Atmosphere Information
The atmosphere is one of the American hip hop duos that is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This duo is consisting of DJ and producer Ant (Anthony Davis) and rapper Slug (Sean Daley). The Atmosphere was founded in 1996. To date, Atmosphere has released nine studio albums along with ten EPs. For the majority of releases, the production is done by Ant himself. Sean Daley and Derek Turner, the two of the original members and creators of this duo, met at their high school times.
Derek Turner (D-Spawn) and Sean Daley (Slug) performed under the name of "Mental Subjects" in the beginning. They later changed the name to "A Rhythmic Culture," followed by the "Urban Atmosphere." Ant (as a producer) was introduced to Slug by rapper Musab (then known as Beyond). The duo started to record with Ant and learning the music along with the flow. “Urban” was eventually dropped by the group later.
The first album released by this group was, Overcast! In 1997. After several changes and ups and downs faced by the group, their second full-length album came out by the name Headshots Se7en (1999). Some of the other popular discographies by the Atmosphere are Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EPs (2001), God Loves Ugly (2002), Seven's Travels (2003), You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having (2005), When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold (2008), The Family Sign (2011), and a few more.
The atmosphere also performed many tours accompanied by several top artists and bands throughout its career, including @ It Again tours, "Pour Me Another" tour, "When God Gives You Ugly" tour, and a few more. The due also collaborated with many bands and artists such as Murs, Deep Puddle Dynamics, Anticon artists, DoseOne, Sole, and Alias, Aesop Rock, Buckshot of Black Moon, Hangar 18, C-Rayz Walz, and countless more.
