Alexandra Lynn (March 3, 1995) is an Australian folk-pop singer and songwriter. She was born in Sydney, New South Wales. She is professionally known by her stage name, Alex the Astronaut. In 2017, Lynn published her first EP under the alias Alex the Astronaut. The EP's lead song, "Already Home," has been called "a melancholy number about a bus ride and ruminations on the mundanities of life" by HuffPost Australia. The song "Not Worth Hiding" from Lynn's 2017 EP See You Soon earned her a J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year nomination.
Described as the unofficial anthem for the "Yes" movement in the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey, "Not Worth Hiding" reached position 23 on Triple J's Hottest 100. Lynn has appeared at two European music festivals: The Great Escape in Brighton and the Primavera Sound in Barcelona. In November 2018, Alex the Astronaut embarked on her first Australian headline tour.
The single "I Like To Dance" by Lynn was released on August 8, 2019, and it has been described as "tuneful folk-pop to tell a haunting story" by Brooklyn Vegan. Alex the Astronaut released his first song, "I Think You're Great," in January 2020, followed by "Split the Sky" in April. Lyricist and singer Lynn opens the song with, "I've been colder, watching Harry Potter looking older," a reference to the Harry Potter film series.
