Alain Souchon Information
Alain Souchon is a French singer, songwriter, and actor born in Casablanca, Morocco. He studied in London for a short time but later decided to work in London rather than continue his studies. After some time, he returned to France and took up the guitar after being influenced by American and English music.
Souchon signed his first record deal with Pathe-Marconi in 1971. Later on, he was encouraged by the artistic director of RCA records, Bob Socquet, to perform his song entitled “L’amour 1830” at the Rose D’Or of Antibes contest. Souchon also collaborated with arranger/composer Laurent Voulzy (1948).
Souchon debut hit was from the album “J’ai 10 ans” of the same name in 1974. He continued working on new projects and wrote the theme for a 1979 film of Francois Truffaut named “Love on the Run (L’amour en fuite). Souchon received an invitation to perform at I’Olympia in 1980. His acting career began with his debut 1983 film “L’ete Meutrier,” in which he had a notable role in that film. When he was 40, Souchon left RCA Records and signed with Virgin Records.
Souchon has released several notable studio albums throughout his career including BIdon (1976), Jamais content (1977), Toto 30 ans, rien que du Malheur… (1978), Rame (1980), On Avance (1983), C’est comme vous voulez (1985), Ultra moderne solitude (1988), Sol en si (1997), Au ras des paquerettes (1999), and La Vie Theodore (2005).
