It opened in the year 1926 and formerly called San Antonio Municipal Auditorium but later named to Tobin Center in the name of Robert L. B. Tobin (one of the city's most prominent residents). It was renovated and expanded by the Seattle-based LMN Architects and the local firm Marmon MokArchitecture. It is a multi-purpose site with 1,746 seats at Performance Hall, 232 seats in Studio Theater, and an outdoor performance plaza.
The performing arts center hosts concerts, live performances, opera, ballet, theatre, family shows, comedy shows, symphony, fitness shows, dance, awards, TV shows, live magic shows and much more.
