The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is a hall in Dallas, Texas, opened for the public in 1989. The architecture of the building is designed by acousticians Russell Johnson's Artec Consultants, Inc., and I.M. Pei. With a seating capacity of 2,062, the hall is under the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs' ownership and is operated by Dallas Symphony Association. The hall is ranked as one of the greatest orchestra halls across the globe. The venue is named in honor of the former president of Electronic Data Systems and CEO and former chairman of Perot Systems named Morton Meyerson. He also led the 10-year effort by the Dallas Symphony Association with the main purpose of founding a home for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center acts as the permanent home of the Dallas Symphony Chorus and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. It is also the primary performing venue of the Dallas Wind Symphony, along with many other Dallas-based musical organizations. The venue features four private suites that host meetings, small concerts, and other events. Booziotis & Company Architects of Dallas design the suites.
The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center is home to the 4,535 pipes C.B. Fisk Opus 100 organ famous as the Lay Family Concert Organ. In September 1992, the première performance was given by organist Michael Murray along with David Higgs. The concert hall also features 50 restrooms, 56 acoustical curtains, 4,535 organ pipes, and much more.
