The stadium is owned by the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, and operated by the University of Southern California. It has a seating capacity of 77,500 people. It took a construction cost of $954,872.98. The architecture for Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was designed by John and Donald Parkinson, which was further renovated by DLR Group. The venue served as a home field for many of the sports teams. However, it is a permanent home field to USC Trojans (NCAA) and Los Angeles Rams (NFL).
The Coliseum was commissioned as a memorial to L.A veterans of World War I. From 1928 till 1981; the UCLA played home games in this Coliseum. The venue hosted the Summer Olympics Games in the year 1932. It also served as a site of the field hockey, gymnastics, the show jumping part of the equestrian, and track and field along with the opening and closing ceremonies. The NCAA Men’s division | Outdoor Track and Field Championships were also hosted in this stadium from the year 1934 – 1955. The Coliseum was the site for the first-ever NFL-AFL Championship Game in January 1967. In the mid of the year 1972, this renowned Coliseum hosted the “Super Bowl” of Motocross. The Rolling Stones held their concert at the stadium on their 1981 ‘Tattoo You’ tour, supported by George Thorogood. The CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer tournament was also held at the venue.
