Kentucky Speedway is a tri-oval speedway located in Sparta, Kentucky. The venue opened for the public on June 16, 2000. Kentucky Speedway is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. The venue has hosted Indy Racing League, NASCAR, and ARCA. On January 8, 1998, it was announced that Jerry Carroll and four other investors were to build this racing facility worth $153 million. The venue has a seating capacity of 69,000-107,000. Through 2010 and further, the speedway also continued playing host to Firestone Indy Lights Series, IndyCar, Nationwide Series, and Camping World Truck Series.
For the 2011 season, the Kentucky Speedway would hold its inaugural NASCAR Cup Series event, the Quaker State 400. The speedway purchased another land of the 170-acre farm adjacent to its original property to convert to parking for the venue. The management soon began to work with the police and the state government to improve event egress and ingress.
Kurt Busch was the first and currently only Chevrolet driver to win at Kentucky in the 2019 Quaker State 400. Some of the other notable NASCAR Cup Series winners include Brad Keselowski (in 2012, 2014, and 2016), Kyle Busch (2011 and 2015), Matt Kenseth (2013), Martin Truex Jr. (2017 and 2018), and a few more.
