The Kansas City Power & Light District is a dining, entertainment district, and office located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It was developed by The Cordish Companies of Baltimore, Maryland. The district was designed by 360 Architecture and Beyer Blinder Belle. It comprises nine blocks on the south side of the downtown loop. This mixed-use district is one of the largest development projects in the Midwest. It is anchored by the renovated Midland Theatre, the world headquarters of H&R Block, and Alamo Drafthouse Mainstreet Cinema, owned by the Cordish Companies.
The Power & Light District received the Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence in 2009. It made a significant impact on the revitalization of downtown Kansas City. The Kansas City Live! is a one-block area devoted to live entertainment and music. There is a covered outdoor plaza at the center of Kansas City Live. The stage of the block featured several acts such as Travis Scott, Flo Rida, The Lumineers, Foster the People, Grouplove, Portugal The Man, Cole Swindell, Vance Joy, Luke Bryan, the Commodores, Macklemore, and Dierks Bentley.
On August 17, 2007, Kansas City Live! construction began and was produced by Structurflex. The Kansas City Live! received national attention for its World Cup watch parties in 2010 and 2014. It was featured on Fox during the 2014 and 2015 World Series. The ground of this particular block focuses on bars, restaurants, the Dubliner, and much more.
