Charleston Gaillard Center is a performance venue and an exhibition hall, located at 95 Calhoun Street, Charleston, South Carolina. It opened to the general public in 2015 with a performance by Yo-Yo Ma. Having a seating capacity of 1,800 people in the performance hall and 15,000-square foot area of the Exhibition Hall, the venue was named after John Palmer Gaillard Jr., who was mayor of Charleston from 1959 to 1975. Its neo-classical architecture was designed by David Schwartz, Akustiks, and LLC with theater consultation under Fisher Dachs Associates, Inc. The center was built by the city of Charleston and a few private donors. It is owned by the city of Charleston.
Charleston Gaillard Center is the hub for concerts, opera, Travelling performances, theater, orchestral music, intellectual and civic activities, educational platform, business & commercial meetings, entertainment, formal weddings, along with outdoor events in the lawn and terrace.
