Roseann O'Donnell (March 21, 1962) is an American television personality, author, actress, comedian, and producer. She was born in Commack, New York. She started in comedy as a teenager, and her big break came in the 1984 season of Star Search. Following a string of successful film and TV roles that brought her to a wider audience, O'Donnell led her nationally syndicated daytime talk program, The Rosie O'Donnell Program, from 1996 to 2002.
While serving as moderator of the daytime talk show The View in 2006 and 2007, O'Donnell was embroiled in several controversies, including a public spat with Donald Trump and on-air arguments criticizing the Bush administration's policy concerning the Iraq War. She first gained prominence in the industry as the host of Rosie Radio on Sirius XM Radio from 2009 to 2011 and then The Rosie Show on OWN from 2011 to 2012. After a brief five-month absence due to personal concerns, O'Donnell returned to The View in 2014.
O'Donnell has worked in various fields beyond comedy, film, and television. He has edited magazines, written for celebrity blogs, and written various memoirs, such as Find Me (2002) and Celebrity Detox (2007). She set up her For All foundation with the $3 million advance from Find Me and used it to promote other charity projects and get the stars she interviewed involved.
