Nicole Byer (August 29, 1986) is an American writer, actress, television host, and comedian born in Lincroft, New Jersey. After completing high school, Byer moved to New York City, where she began waitressing and taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade. In 2012, she moved to Los Angeles. Byer completed her graduation from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy Certificate Program in Professional Performance. She then created and starred, along with Sasheer Zamata, in a web series produced by Upright Citizens Brigade called “Pursuit of Sexiness.” She also hosted the first season of “Are You the One?” by MTV.
In 2016, Byer appeared on several various TV networks, guest-starring in Bob’s Burgers, Transparent, and BoJack Horseman. She also made an appearance as a guest judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars” third season. Byer regularly performs improv with Upright Citizens Brigade touring the United States as a stand-up comedian. She also launched a weekly podcast named “Why Won’t You Date Me?” on the HeadGum podcast network.
Byer has appeared in numerous films, including A Better You (2014), Other People (2016), Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016), All About Nina (2018), Bad Hair (2020), and Valley Girl (2020). Television shows in which she has appeared so far include The Birthday Boys (2013-2014), Like, Share, Die (2015), Comedy Bang! Bang! (2015), Angle Tribeca (2016), Party Over Here (2016), The UCB Show (2016-2017), Young & Hungry (2017), and countless others.
