Negin Farsad Information
Negin Farsad (March 24, 1978) is an Iranian-American filmmaker, writer, actress, and comedian. She advises the New York City Campaign Finance Board on policy in her new role. After working for the city for over a year as a policy advisor, Farsad quit to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. She started her production firm, Vaguely Qualified Productions, and now devotes her entire life to her art.
Her political opinions, sex experiences, and the challenges of managing the cultural dynamics of her Iranian-born family frequently appear in her stand-up performances. 2012 she was included in Huffington Post's "53 Of Our Favorite Female Comedians" list. For her efforts in social justice comedy, she was named a TED Fellow and delivered a TED Talk in 2016 and 2017. Farsad has played in front of crowds all around the world. She was named one of "18 Funny Women You Should Be Following on Twitter" by The Huffington Post in 2012.
She performed her original one-woman show, Bootleg Islam, at the DC, Dallas, and Chicago Comedy Festivals. The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: A Romantic Comedy, her first musical, had its world premiere at the New York International Fringe Festival. Farsad is a regular on the news quiz show "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me!" on National Public Radio.
