Mira Jacob Information
Mira Jacob (January 5, 1973) is an American writer. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jacob graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor's degree in 1996. She graduated from the New School for Social Research with a master's degree in fine arts. Pete's Reading Series, a reading series in Brooklyn, was founded by Jacob.
She is the author of The Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing, a novel about a patriarch who begins to communicate with ghosts and the effects this has on his family. Jacob took ten years to complete The Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing, during which time her father fell ill and died. After his death, Jacob composed much of the work, using her father as the father character.
Jacob's second book, Good Talk, was released in 2019. It is a graphic memoir. Good Talk was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist, a PEN Open Book Award longlist, and a New York Times Notable Book. Time, Esquire, Publishers Weekly, and Library Journal all named it the best book. Film 44 is currently developing the memoir as a television series.
