Maz Jobrani Information
Maziyar Jobrani (February 26, 1972) is an Iranian-American actor and comedian from Tehran, Iran. He is also known as Maz Jobrani and moved to California with his parents at six years old. Jobrani was raised in Tiburon in the San Francisco Bay area, and he attended the Redwood High School in Larkspur. Later on, he was inducted into the Redwood distinguished 2017 alumni class and studied at UC Berkeley. Jobrani decided to pursue his childhood dream of performing comedy and acting when he enrolled in a Ph.D. program at UCLA.
Maz Jobrani has made several appearances on television shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Colbert Report, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He also regularly performs at some of the top comedy clubs, including The Comedy Store. Jobrani was seen on Still Standing, Cedric the Entertainer Presents, Better Off Ted, The Knights of Prosperity, an episode of Malcolm in the Middle, and 13 Going on 30.
Maz Jobrani has toured with the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, and he also provided the voice of Ahmed Farahnakian in the World War Z audiobook version. He has written a movie with the help of a friend called Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero. Jobrani’s stand-up specials include the 2007 Axis of Evil Comedy Special, 2009 Brown & Friendly, 2013 I Come in Peace, 2015 I’m Not a Terrorist, But I’ve Played One On TV, and 2017 Immigrant. He has also written a book entitled I’m Not a Terrorist, But I’ve Played One On TV: Memoirs of a Middle Eastern Funny Man (2015).
