Milton Howery Jr. (December 17, 1979) is an American actor and comedian born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Providence St. Mel School and transferred to Crane High School. While studying, Howery wrote jokes and created a script in a senior talent show, which helped him choose comedy as his professional career. He is professionally known as Lil Rel Howery and best known for his roles in NBC’s television comedy series, The Carmichael Show, where he appeared as Robert Carmichael.
Howery also starred in his own co-produced and created television series, Rel. He began his comedy career by performing stand-up comedy on the East Side of Chicago at the Lion’s Den. In January 2007, he made his debut television appearance in the reality television competition, Last Comic Standing. He was also on P. Diddy Presents The Bad Boys of Comedy on HBO the same year. Howery took part in America’s National Night Out Against Crime in Chicago in 2009.
Netflix added Howery’s first exclusive solo stand-up special in early 2016, entitled “Kevin Hart Presents: Lil Rel: RELevent.” In 2017, Howery won the “Best Comedic Performance” for his performance in Jordan Peele’s satirical horror film named, Get Out.
Throughout Howery’s professional career, he has appeared in numerous hit films such as Deep Water (2021), Vacations Friends (2021), Tom and Jerry (2021), The Photograph (2020), Clouds (2020), The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019), Good Boys (2019), and Brittany Runs a Marathon (2019).
