Jocko Willink Information
John Gretton "Jocko" Willink (September 8, 1971) is an American podcaster, author, and a retired United States Navy SEAL. Willink is from Torrington, Connecticut. He served the country from 1990 to 2010 as a Lieutenant Commander. He was honored with the Silver Star and Bronze Star for his outstanding services in the Iraq War (Battle of Ramadi).
John Gretton is a co-founder of the management consulting firm known as Echelon Front, LLC. He is also a co-author of books called The Dichotomy of Leadership (with fellow retired SEAL Leif Babin) and Extreme Ownership. Currently, Willink hosts a podcast on a weekly basis named Jocko Podcast with Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner Echo Charles.
Some important moments of his Military Career include being a part of the SEAL team that seized Russian Tanker named Volga-Neft-147 which was carrying Iraqi oil, violating the U.N. economic embargo in the Gulf of Oman. He also completed many deployments to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Willink also deployed to the Iraqi town of Ramadi during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2006) with the SEAL Team THREE; commander of Task Unit Bruiser.
Jocko also served as a Navy SEAL instructor during his service period. He got retirement after 20 years of service in October 2010. Some of the major awards earned by Willink are Bronze Star with Combat "V", Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon with gold award star, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, Special Warfare insignia, and a few more.
Apart from his Military Career, Willink’s Post-Navy career includes having a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu from Dean Lister. He also owns Victory MMA and Fitness (San Diego, California). He also appeared in the podcast of Sam Harris, Tim Ferriss, and Joe Rogan after which, he initiated his own weekly podcast.
Some of the children’s books written by Jocko are Mikey and the Dragons (2018) and Way of the Warrior Kid series.
