James Harvey Kennedy (May 25, 1970) is an American television producer, stand-up comedian, actor, screenwriter, and television producer. He was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Kennedy attended Monsignor Bonner High School in the year 1988. After graduating from high school, Kennedy began his career as a Hollywood extra. He also worked hard on his voice impersonations.
Kennedy became a professional Hollywood extra when he arrived in Los Angeles for the very first time. He struggled for a few years, and when he failed to find an agent, Kennedy started working as a host at Red Lobster. Kennedy auditioned for almost 80 commercials but could not get a chance in a single one. He created a false persona as a screening agent, “Marty Power.” The purpose was to attract real agents and managers. They started booking him over the phone.
Kennedy became a prominent public figure after playing Randy Meeks’s role in the Scream film series, later in the 1990s. He also received a Golden Raspberry Awards nomination in the category of Worst Actor for his lead role as “Tim Avery” in Son of the Mask. Kennedy formed a production company called Wannabe Producers alongside Josh. He has produced multiple shows through his company, such as The Starlet, Blowin’ Up, Living with Fran, and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment.
Kennedy has appeared in numbers of films throughout his career including Unhappily Ever After (1995), Scream (1996), On the Edge of Innocence (1997), Perversions of Science (1997), As Good as It Gets (1997), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Farce of the Penguins (2006), and several other films.
He has won three awards so far, including Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favourite Supporting Actor for Horror (1998), and Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for Worst Actor and Worst Screen Couple (2005).
