Greater Vision Information
Greater Vision is a southern gospel music trio from Morristown, Tennesse, founded in December 1990. Mark Trammell left the Cathedral Quartet and joined Cathedrals alum Gerald Wolfe to form the group. The music of the group is defined as southern gospel and Christian. The current lineup of the group consists of Chris Allman – tenor, Rodney Griffin – lead, Jon Epley – baritone, and Gerald Wolfe – piano, group owner. Greater Vision is known as one of the most famous trios due to its prolonged commercial and musicals success that has continued for two decades.
On A Journey (1990) was the first project by Greater Vision that was faced with overnight popularity. It was followed by You Can Have A Song (1992), Serving A Risen Savior (1994), and 20 Inspirational Favorites (1993). All of these albums were released on the Riversong/Benson Music Group label. 1997's When I See The Cross by the group turned out to be the group's highest-charting project. Later, the band left the Riversong label and signed with Daywind Records.
Greater Vision also recorded with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra in 1999 and released Far Beyond This Place. The album included the song "My Name is Lazarus," penned by Griffin, which has become their most iconic song. The track reached number 1 on the Southern Gospel Charts. Some of the other notable releases by the band are singles; 2001 He's Still Waiting By The Well, 2011 Never Been, 2014 Preacher Tell Me Like it Is, and 2017 Never Will I Ever Again.
The group has consistently been named Southern gospel's top male trio, and also won the Singing News Awards and the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
