Elf The Musical Information
Elf, the musical, features music and lyrics by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin and is based on the 2003 film of the same name. Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan took the film from 2003 and turned it into a book. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2010–11 and 2012–13, then transferred to the West End in 2015–16, and has since toured extensively, frequently around the Christmas season.
The musical premiered in a workshop in 2009, and after previews beginning on November 2, 2010, it debuted for a short holiday engagement at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Broadway on November 14. The director was Casey Nicholaw. After 15 previews and 57 regular performances, the show closed for good on January 2, 2011.
World's Biggest Panto plans to remount the musical in UK arenas in December 2022 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen, OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, and Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
The Dominion Theatre resurrected Elf in 2022, with previews commencing on November 14, the opening night being November 24, and the final performance on January 7, 2023. Simon Lipkin played Buddy, and Georgina Castle played Jovie. The musical is planned to return to the Dominion Theatre for a second engagement from November 15, 2023, until January 6, 2024.
