Eddie Izzard Information
Eddie Izzard (February 7, 1962) is a British activist, actor, and stand-up comedian. While attending college, Izzard and her buddy Rob Ballard experimented with comedy. The two performed in the streets of London, most frequently in the Covent Garden area. After his breakup with Ballard, Izzard spent the early 1980s as a street performer in Europe and the US. Izzard made his live performance debut at London's Comedy Store in 1987.
Izzard ran 43 marathons in 51 days in 2009 for Sport Relief despite never having raced more than a half marathon. She completed 27 marathons in 27 days in South Africa to raise money for Nelson Mandela's foundation in 2016. She is a staunch advocate for Europeanism and the European Union, and she routinely does stand-up in Arabic, French, German, Russian, and Spanish in addition to her native English.
Izzard is a devoted member of the Labour Party who has twice failed in his bids to join the party's National Executive Committee but was temporarily appointed to the position after Christine Shawcroft quit in March 2018. Izzard ran for the party's Sheffield Central parliamentary nomination in 2022. However, she was ultimately unsuccessful in the members' poll.
