Feld Entertainment's Ice Follies And Holiday on Ice, Inc. produces the touring ice show series Disney on Ice, formerly known as Walt Disney's World on Ice, under license from The Walt Disney Company. Shows feature figure skaters dressed as Disney characters skating to routines based on various Disney movies.
The idea for a Disney-themed ice performance was first brought up by Mattel's Irvin & Kenneth Feld Productions shortly after their 1979 purchase of Ice Follies and Holiday on Ice. Feld Productions acquired the Disney ice show license. Productions under the Walt Disney's World on Ice moniker kicked off in 1981.
Typically, Mickey Mouse hosts the show. However, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck also make appearances from time to time. Recent episodes have included material based on Disney films like Moana, Frozen, Beauty And The Beast, and The Lion King: a brand-new show debuts almost every year. Due to the global pandemic in 2020, Disney on Ice performances were canceled worldwide. Rehearsals continued in 2020, starting with "Dream Big" on November 6.
