Desus & Mero is an American late-night talk show series that airs on television. The show is hosted by comedians The Kid Mero and Desus Nice. Desus & Mero premiered on February 21, 2019, on streaming service Showtime and premium cable. On February 21, 2019, the first season was released, receiving positive reviews.
Desus & Mero co-hosted the third season of the show. Showtime announced that they had ordered a half an hour late-night series where Desus and Mero will be starring. The announcement was made in June 2018. This was considered as the first late-night show ever from the network. Desus & Mero got more budgets than expected that allowed them to have more pre-recorded sketches, an upgraded set, and a research team.
Desus & Mero also hired a writer for the writer’s room, including Ziwe Fumudoh, Heben Nigatu, Robert Kornhauser, Claire Friedman, Mike Pielocik, and Josh Gondelman. The show’s first guest was a Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez when the series debuted on February 21, 2019. The airs of the show announced to be expanded to two nights per week on Monday and Thursday, which was announced on April 21, 2019.
Both hosts of the show Desus and Mero, received a Webby Special Achievement Award in 2019. Guests who have appeared on the show so far are Carmelo Anthony along with Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Seth Rogen, Charlize Theron, Amy Poehler, Ava DuVernay, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gayle King & CC Sabathia, Bernie Sanders, and plenty of others guest has been the part of this big show.
