David Koechner Information
David Michael Koechner (August 24, 1962) is an American comedian and actor. He was born in Tipton, Missouri. Before joining the Second City Northwest, Koechner originally got into acting by learning improv comedy at ImprovOlympic in Chicago under the tutelage of Del Close.
Koechner moved to New York City in 1995 and worked as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (1995–1996) and Late Night with Conan O'Brien in the 1990s. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1997, Koechner began performing regularly in various comedies for film and television. He made his debut in Wag the Dog, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and other roles.
Koechner met comedian Dave "Gruber" Allen while working together on the country mockumentary movie Dill Scallion in 1998. The two later formed the live musical comedy group The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show. As a result of the group's success at clubs in Hollywood like Largo, Allen and Koechner were asked to open for Tenacious D. The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show sketch comedy series that Koechner and Allen co-created and starred in 2007 aired for one season on Comedy Central.
