The Comedy Bang! Bang! Podcast was established in 2009 and is presented by Scott Aukerman. Through his work with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and on the sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David, Aukerman had already achieved great success and gained widespread recognition. In addition to interviews with stand-up comedians, the show Bang! Bang! also incorporates interviews with music and film stars.
These interviews are sometimes interspersed with short comedic skits involving imaginary characters. Artists such as Ben Stiller, Weird Al Yankovic, and Jon Hamm are among the notable individuals who have appeared on the program. The Independent Film Channel adapted the podcast into a television series in 2012.
Aukerman established Comedy Bang! Bang! in Los Angeles in 2009 under the moniker Comedy Death-Ray Radio. The podcast would eventually be renamed Comedy Bang! Bang! In 2011, modifications to the program's structure and format were implemented. Currently, Comedy Bang! Bang! is especially well-known for the long musical improvisations performed by Reggie Watts, a musical comic.
