The Kraken's season ended in April 2024 with a 5-2 loss against the Kings, removing them from playoff contention. After the season ended on April 29, Dave Hakstol was fired as head coach of the Krakens.
On May 28, Dan Bylsma was named head coach of the Coachella Valley Firebirds. According to the team's announcement, a college free-agency goaltender named Victor Östman from the University of Maine was signed to an entry-level contract by the Seattle Kraken in April. Forward Max McCormick and the team announced their two-year, two-way deal agreement in July.
The Seattle Kraken have had a good 2024 NHL season and have improved significantly over the last year. Matty Beniers and Jared McCann performed well as they secured a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres in a match on December 16. Philipp Grubauer has been solid in the net, and the Kraken have had a balanced attack. Seattle is concentrating on consistency and building on their defensive game as they go through the season. The Kraken provide a mix of veteran leadership and younger talent and are well-placed for what should be a big playoff push in the tight Western Conference.
