Rocket Classic Information
This PGA Tour event is a professional golf tournament played at the Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Michigan. As the first PGA Tour event to take place fully inside Detroit's municipal limits, it takes the place of the Quicken Loans National. With this tournament in 2019, two players who were not exempt could participate in the Open Championship as part of the Open Qualifying Series.
Famous golfers, including Nate Lashley, Doc Redman, and Ted Potter, Jr., hit the green in the tournament's first year, hoping to take home a prize. With a final score of six strokes, Lashley defeated Redman in front of over 10,000 spectators. Lashley was awarded a little over $1.3 million.
Among those who participated in the 2020 competition were Bryson DeChambeau, Matthew Wolff, and Danny Willett. The tournament was won by DeChambeau, who defeated Wolff by a score of three strokes. The purse was worth 7.5 million dollars, and DeChambeau took home 1,350,000. Phil Mickelson (PGA Champion) and Hideki Matsuyama (Masters Champion) are two of eleven champions who competed in the 2021 event.
