Phoenix Mercury Information
The Phoenix Mercury is an American professional basketball team from Phoenix, Arizona. They play in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and are in the Western Conference. In addition to being one of the eight founding franchises, it was established before the beginning of the league's first season in 1997.
In 2007, the team won its first WNBA championship, led by star player Diana Taurasi and head coach Paul Westhead. Taurasi became one of the league’s top scorers and a face of women’s basketball. The Mercury continued their success with more titles in 2009 and 2014, building a strong fan base in Phoenix and becoming one of the most successful teams in the league.
